Cartography

Combining technology, science and design, maps are the essence of information design. Fulfilling the technical requirements for accuracy and print reproduction calls for a well planned strategy at the outset of the design process. Our design skills stem from extensive cartography and drafting experience. Maps are prime examples that creativity and rationality, analysis and inspiration, are key elements in graphic design.

			Enhanced Digital Orthophoto Map Boston, Massachusetts Eight tiles of digital orthophotography were stitched together in Photoshop and individually adjusted to create a seamless aerial photograph. The middle of the map is occupied by the Charles River with Cambridge to the north and Boston to the south. Map was offset printed in process color with a gloss spot varnish over map area. 18" x 24"

			The Charles River Basin Parklands After the release of the Enhanced Digital Orthophoto of Boston, The Charles River Conservancy wanted to create a version of the Boston map but one that covered approximately 20 square miles. Map was offset printed in process color plus 1 Pantone color. 20¼" x 39"

			Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association This map/brochure features descriptions and locations of 54 individual wineries located within the Santa Cruz Mountains region. 50,000 copies were printed in 2 colors on the map side and 4 colors on the display side. The final brochures are distributed via mail and tourism display racks. The 17" x 22" map folds down to 3.75" x 8.5"
